Jessica and I were teaching middle school in Washington Heights last year. One of the assignments we gave was to write a story about what life would be like if you went to live on another planet in the galaxy. One day after school, Jess was helping me clean my classroom when we found this adolescent take on our assignments. I couldn’t look at my students again the same way afterwards.
